| Accident victim had stopped in the street Sat, 19 Apr 2008 02:05 EDT The University of Kentucky student who died Sunday in a hit-and-run accident crossed against the traffic signal and stopped in the street for unknown reasons when she was crossing South Broadway, according to a police accident report released Friday. The report says that Connie Blount, 18, a freshman from Park City, Utah, was thrown across West Maxwell Street after she was struck by a truck at the intersection of South Broadway and West Maxwell. She was taken to UK Hospital, where she later died from multiple injuries. It's not clear why Blount stopped in the middle of the street. At the time, she was walking with a friend, who was not injured.Connie Blount's father, Jack Blount, said his daughter was wearing heels and might have had more trouble getting across the street than her friend, who was wearing sneakers. On Monday, Jack Blount said that police told him they had impounded a pickup and were searching for forensic evidence to determine whether it struck his daughter. Police have not confirmed or denied Jack Blount's statement about the impounded truck. |
